Brief History: If Sid had been an only child, everything would have been different. If Sid had been one of two, of three, maybe even of four... But no, Sid had to be one of five. Abril and John Kennedy had never intended to be the parents of five children, but it happened, and Sid was child number four, with three older siblings (twin girls and a brother) and, later, one younger one (a baby sister).

Sid had a few years of attention as the baby of the family, but once his little sister was born, (when he was six), that was over. Sid was more or less ignored unless he fought for attention by making a big scene. His siblings all had an edge in the competition for their parents' time: Cindy was the baby, Jessie - one of the twins - was the artist of the family, Becky - the other twin - was both the beauty and the athlete, and Rod, the oldest, was not only considered 'the smart one' of the children, but was also expected to take over the family hardware store someday, and so his father was often preparing him to join the family business. Sid did have his place in the family, though - without any other asset, he had to try all the harder to gain attention, and these attempts got him labeled as 'the annoying one.' His siblings were rather nasty towards him because of his annoying behavior, and his parents were just too busy to do anything about it.

The loud, obnoxious, and goofy behavior Sid learned as a means of trying to get noticed repelled other kids his age, so the boy never had many friends. At least, not friends his own age. Sid had a gift with young children... He just didn't learn this until one summer day when fate played a hand and gave Sid a purpose.
Sid was twelve at the time, and had just finished his sixth-grade year. The boy was hanging about idly in the family hardware store when a woman and her toddler triplets came in. John and Rod wasted no time in going to help the customer, and she surprised Sid by asking him to watch her kids while she got what she needed. Before Sid could say a word, his father - eager to make a sale - agreed for him, and young Sid was left alone to babysit.

He did one of the few things he really knew and started clowning around - much to the children's amusement. Particularly delightful to them was the accidental clowning caused by Sid's clumsiness. Sid, for his part, didn't care how banged up he got - the kids' eyes were on him the entire time. It was the attention he'd always craved, and something more, too. Something about looking after the kids felt natural, and whenever he pulled the tykes away from a dangerous piece of equipment, that feeling of being a protector... It made him feel truly needed. Sid found that the babysitting gig ended all too soon for him.

So Sid started advertising his babysitting services around the neighborhood. People who knew the boy well enough were hesitant to put their children in his care, but the woman from the hardware store spoke well of him. Not only was she Sid's first regular employer, but she also was the reason for most of his other business. Sid's experience as a babysitter had its ups and downs: Some kids were a delight, but he also had to deal with his share of kids who just wouldn't listen. But in Sid's mind, all of the children respected him as an older and wiser being. Even if it was sometimes false, it was a sense of being respected and feeling powerful that Sid didn't get very often, if ever.

Personality: There are many words that can be used to describe Sid. Not many of them are positive. He's a clumsy little guy, prone to stumbling nearly everywhere. (He's more graceful on the ice, but even then, he's not free from accidents.) He's also not very bright - he's kind of an idiot, really - and doesn't exactly practice good hygiene. At all. What's more, he can be terribly insenstive - he would never try to be, he's just... Kind of blunt. He's also a bit attention-starved, clingy, lazy, cowardly, and all-around, well, annoying - And despite all this, baffled when he doesn't get the respect he feels he deserves. However, he doesn't seem to get any of this. Honestly, Sid's many flaws are completely lost on him. When they're pointed out, he either ignores the facts or gets incredibly determined to prove a person wrong, depending on what flaw it is.

To be fair, though, Sid balances out his flaws with a fair amount of good qualities. For one thing, he has a huge heart, and though he can be insensitive in certain ways he is incredibly sensitive in others. Something of an intuitive, when he feels someone has a problem he will instantly offer advice or just to lend an ear. He's also quite nurturing - he loves kids and is good with them, even if sometimes he can be a bit irresponsible or immature. Sid is also very, very loyal, and once he makes a friend he will stand by them through everything. In addition, Sid is an amazingly positive creature. Though he can get stubborn at times, usually he bounces back from hardships with a smile.
